Bob James is one of the Smooth Jazz legends; piano jazz at its best. Born on Christmas in 1939 in Missouri, USA, James began his piano career at age 4! In the 1970s, James was a major player in setting the stage for Smooth Jazz, as he was the creator of the music theme for the popular sitcom "Taxi" with the series musical hit "Angela" He's also very well known for the smooth jazz hits "Nautilus" and "Westchester Lady".
Bob James worked extinsively with David Sanborn and Earl Klugh. James recieved his first Grammy Award in 1981 for his album "One on One" with Earl Klugh. His recieved his next Grammy in 1986 for his joint album with David Sanborn "Double Vision".
He has also collaborated in major ways with the jazz group "Fourplay" and played with them often. His latest album was released in 2011 called: "Just Friends: The Hamilton Hall Sessions (w/ Howard Paul). His last solo album is "Urban Flamingo", released in 2005. The last album released by Bob James in 2009 is: "The Very Best of Bob James".
